Never, ever say it's quiet on the homefront...

Because you know what happens.

The morning sickness finally took its toll on me and I had to be hospitalized for a day and was given lovely, lovely drugs that stopped the madness. Robert got the flu early last week, therefore my defenses were down, and I just didn't really care to take care of myself. Bad, bad momma.

But all is calm and I believe we are all on the road to recovery.

I will start posting more in a few days. Just didn't want to lose my fans to the silence!

A really good recipe

It's been fairly uneventful around these parts lately, so I thought I would post one of our family's favorite breakfast recipes, Ham-and-Swiss Muffins. They are incredibly easy to make and are so, so yummy. Enjoy!

Ham-and-Swiss Muffins

• 3 Tbsp butter or margarine
• 1 medium sweet onion, finely chopped
• 1 1/2 cups all-purpose baking mix
• 2 cups (8-ounces) shredded swiss cheese, divided
• 1/2 cup milk
• 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
• 1 large egg
• 1 cup finely chopped cooked ham

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Melt butter in skillet over medium-high heat; add onion, and saute' 3 to 5 minutes or until tender. Combine baking mix and half of cheese in a large bowl; make a well in the center of mixture. Stir together milk, Dijon mustard, and egg, blending well; add to cheese mixture, stirring until just moistened. Stir in onion and ham. Spoon into lightly greased muffin pans, filling 2/3 full. Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup swiss cheese.

Bake for 18 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 2 to 3 minutes before removing from pan. Makes 12 muffins.

Note: You can also use mini-muffin pans, if desired. Bake at 425 degrees for 14 minutes or until golden. Makes 2 1/2 dozen mini-muffins.

Want to know how to get your child(ren) to actually eat their veggies?

Mix in a bit of chicken boullion with water and cook the carrots or green beans and it is a miracle!

She actually ate 10 carrot slices tonight, which is a HUGE accomplishment in our house.

Ok, confession time

So now that the secret's out, it's time to confess my all-time favorite pregnancy food(s).

It is so, so, so very good, but only when I am expecting. I ate the entire thing at least twice a week while pregnant with Emma. And it looks like I am following the same path this time.

I can also devour, rather quickly, a bag of dried apricots and flaked coconut, cold spaghetti-os, wheat thins with peanut butter, two apples sliced with cheese and raisins......

Funny how my usual daily, sometimes hourly, cravings for DrPepper and chocolate did not make my list of confession food. It's like a switch in my brain turns on that quells my DP/chocolate cravings, but rest assured I will surely be back in the game after the baby is here. :)

Aside from my (semi-gross) food confessions, I am really NOT that hungry. I have to remind myself to eat, which if you really knew me, isn't usually a problem....

Birthday card made for a birthday party my parents are attending this evening.

Got the idea from the new stickers in Brenda Walton's new line, the Neopolitan Collection. I highly recommend you check out the papers. Bright and lively!

Lotsa cardstock and pinking shears. Super easy.

Rainy day fun

                                                                           

What fun we had this dark and stormy morning. An indoor picnic with one invitee-the bear rug. Who incidentally loves jelly and drumsticks. At least that is what Emma insisted on feeding her guest.

Not much else really noteworthy is happening here so I thought at least I'd share a photo or two!

My limited choices were hot cocoa, spaghetti and buttered toast. Not a combination I'd like to try at the dinner table, but for imagination's sake, I'll give it a whirl.

One of the many, many reasons why I love being a momma to a girl!
